The Hexagonal chainring
In early 2002, I was living in southeastern France and was quite active in the world of bicycle race officiating. I was (and still am) quite interested in the differences between how European cycling federations manage cycling and how USA Cycling does so.
I documented what I found in France in a small paper entitled The Hexagonal Chainring, which describes the structure of cycling in France in the following areas:
- Organization of the French federation
- Licenses and categorization
- Race events and scheduling
- Clubs and their role in cycling
- Education and cycling
- Training and management of race officials and timers
- Discipline
- Promotion of cycling
